That’s one guide.Second, we attend many showsto see what you are modeling andto watch for changing trends. Wegain a lot of feedback at theseevents, and occasionally find anew author or two.Third, we get a lot of e-mails(not so much snail mail anymore)from you about what you want tosee in the magazine and on thewebsite, including which modelsyou wish the manufacturers wouldcreate. (More on that in anupcoming issue.) We’re communi-cating with readers around theworld constantly. For instance, this week I had e-mails fromSerbia, England, and Canada.Fourth, we have opinions. Yes, Iknow it’s hard to believe, but weWe’re always looking for strongship models, and sci-fi has grownin popularity at shows the pastcouple of years too. The latest“Star Wars” movie certainly willhelp keep that fire stoked. We also see figure painting andfantasy figure modeling growing. Not every story is for everyone. We know some of you only modelin one genre. But it’s our aim and hope that,no matter the subject, you’ll find afew new modeling tips to help youlearn, grow, and have more fun.THIS WEEK I HAD E-MAILSFROM SERBIA, ENGLAND,AND CANADAhave favorite subjects too. So aRussian tank here, a P-38 there, may creep into the mix(SeeAirbrushing & Finishing, p. 20).But we’re always looking for amix of stories — aircraft andarmor for sure — and we try tomix up the eras as there are fans ofWorld War I and II equipment, plus many of the younger model-ers who prefer Vietnam and Iraqwar vehicles. Some even wantcivilian aircraft and airliners.editor@finescale.comFineScale.com to be open! For a limited time, Feb. 15-22, our websitewill be open to all modelers, not justsubscribers.
